Our Core Christians Values

Please use the tabs above to learn about our core Christian values in greater detail.

Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralysed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

Mark 2:4-5

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!”Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.  He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

Mark 4:40 -41

“My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.  But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.”

Luke 15:31-32

“Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”  The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”  Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

Luke 10:36 -37

At St John’s we believe that it is not enough to talk about the core values and know what the Bible says about them. The Christian faith tells us that human beings are created in the image of God, and that we should all use our power, skills and resources for the good of all, thus we need to put our beliefs into action. We strive to ensure that our values are lived out in the day to day life of the school community and beyond.

Values in Action

Our Collective Worship Coordinator has devised an award scheme that runs each year with the purpose of encouraging participants to find ways to demonstrate the values outside of school. Each child is given a record book which is filled in at home when they have done something which shows friendship, compassion or service to others. At the end of the year they are awarded with a certificate and badge.

Value Champions

We acknowledge pupils who demonstrate our values day by day in school. Each term every class is asked to nominate a pupil who they feel lives out the Christian values. The class teacher writes a paragraph about why the child has been nominated and it is displayed in the hall along with a photograph. The names of these children are then printed in the school newsletter.
