St John's Church of England Primary School

Last Day of Term 6 - Friday, July 19th. First Day of Term 1 - Tuesday, September 3rd.

Welcome to St John’s CE Primary School Foundation stage where a very warm welcome awaits you and your children.

We have two classes in our Foundation Stage, Toucan class and Parrot class, but we operate very much as one team working together to give the children in our care the very best start to school life that we can. Like the rest of the school, we base everything we do in the Foundation stage on the core Christian values of Friendship, Forgiveness, Trust and Compassion.

We pride ourselves on working with the children and their families to help them achieve the best they can. Results from the end of the year 2017/18 show 93.3% of the cohort achieved a Good Level of Development, 95% achieved the expected level or above for Reading, 93.3% achieved the expected level or above for Writing and 95% achieved the expected level or above for Mathematics.

What can you expect for your children when they come to St John’s?

  • A dedicated team of professionals who work closely together to provide a range of exciting experiences that will help your children learn and develop.
  • A safe environment where children will feel accepted and cared for. A place where the views and opinions of the children are listened to and their needs met.
  • Two large and brightly decorated classrooms and a large, fenced off, outdoor area. The children have access to a wide range of resources and activities which excite and challenge them in all seven areas of the Early Years curriculum.

Take a look at our Foundation Stage policy to find out more detail about our ethos and commitment to early education.

But don’t just take our word for it; here are just a few things our parents say about Foundation Stage at St John’s school…..

“The children were so well behaved and all knew their routines and I thought the environment was very calm and safe.”

“I was very impressed by the calm atmosphere and the children’s numeracy questions. The singing was also lovely.”

“It is lovely to see the children helping each other and interacting in such a positive way.”

“My son seems really happy and confident at school. He loves showing me all his favourite things. I was amazed how fun learning can be and the wide range of activities available to the children”

….and what do the pupils have to say?

"I like school because the teachers look after me and my friends play with me."

"I love school because I love to learn and I love playing with my friends."

"I love school and doing lots of different things."
