Year 5 & 6 Gymnastics Competition
On Monday 6th March, eight children from year 5 & 6 attended the Kent School games Gymnastics competition at Pegasus gym club. We started practice after Christmas and have been busy learning the skills and routines needed for the competition. The progress made from our first session by all has been excellent and all competitors should be really proud of their improvements.
We all tried our absolute best and represented St John’s impeccably.
I am pleased to announce that our two gymnastics teams came 5th and 10th in the Year 5 & 6 level 3 Gymnastics competition.
Considering the teams have only been practising since after Christmas, I think these are both fantastic results. We were 1% off coming in 4th place too! We will continue to practise and improve our skills ready to enter again next year.
Here’s what some of the children had to say about the afternoon:
“I had a wonderful time learning the gymnastics and performing it. It took me a while to learn the routines but I practised and learnt them off by heart” Gracie Goodman, 5B
“The competition was amazing. My favourite part was performing the routines!” Yasmin Barnes, 5B
“The gym competition was amazing. We did two routines which I thought went quite well and then the vault” Issy Nott, 5B
“At the gymnastics competition, we competed against lots of different schools. It was really fun and I really enjoyed it” Benji Brooks, 5B
“I really enjoyed the gymnastics competition and practising on a Tuesday morning and break time. Thank you to Miss Milsted and Hayley for running this club” Millie French, 5B
