TERM 2...

Year 2 & 3 Volleyball 'PASS Games' Festival

Ten children from year 2 and ten children from year 3 were given the chance to attend a PASS Games Festival where they learnt skills based on volleyball. PASS are the P.E coaching company which provide us with teaching for some of our P.E lessons. Most, if not all, of the children had little experience of this sport so it was really great to see them improve their technique and ability throughout the time they were there. The children had a great time, showed excellent behaviour and represented St John’s brilliantly. We hope there will be lots of other opportunities throughout the year for more children to get involved with these Games Festivals.

Year 2 Infant Agility

10 children from Penguin Class took part in an infant agility tournament at Mote Park Leisure Centre. Out of 12 local schools that participated, we came in 3rd place! Our team performed very well and showed excellent sportsmanship.

"I really loved the running relay race we had to do. It was really fun" George Simpson 2L

Year 5 & 6 Mixed Basketball Tournament

On Monday 14th November, myself and Miss Lebrette took two teams to the Year 5 & 6 Maidstone Basketball Tournament. We hadn’t entered a basketball tournament in a very long time so it was really great to take two teams along. The children in Year 6 have had 2 P.E sessions with Hayley this term learning the skills of Basketball and from these sessions two teams were chosen. I am so incredibly proud of both teams who represented St John’s excellently and tried their absolute best. We didn’t make the finals however we will continue to practise and will definitely be entering again next year! A huge well done to both teams.

Miss Milsted

“We had great fun at the basketball tournament. We found it to be hard work but worth it. We improved our skills and got better and better with each match we played. It was good to see and learn from other team’s tactics and it was great to be part of a supportive team”. A & B Teams
