Dear Parents,

Welcome to our Newsletter for Term 5

In literacy, we will be learning about persuasive writing and writing playscripts. In numeracy, alongside our work on number and calculations, we will also learn about angles, shape and measures. They will also be learning the importance of data and graphs and how they are used in ICT.

We will be started an exciting science topic on rocks. This will include thinking about how rocks are formed, looking at sand under a microscope and using wax crayons to model how rocks are formed.

As part of their work in geography, we will be exploring different settlements. In RE, we will start to learn about Islam. In history, we are now learning about the Vikings, particularly about Viking sagas. The children will learn songs about different characters from the world of the Vikings and using instruments to compose their own music. In addition, the class will continue to learn the ocarina in music.  As the weather improves, we will increasingly work outside in PE. Although PE usually takes place on Mondays and Fridays, we may occasionally do PE on a different day because of the weather so it would be helpful if your child had their PE kit in school each day.

You are always welcome to discuss any concerns with us after school.

Miss Shaw, Mrs Blackwell,
