Year 5 Newsletter: Terms 5&6, 2013.

        Dear Parents,

We are very much looking forward to the busy but fun final two terms. The purpose of this newsletter is to provide additional information about the final two terms of Year 5. Please consult your Curriculum planner for more details about topics and learning.

Weekly Maths and Literacy homework has already started again. As we’ve said before homework is given to practise and revise skills taught and enrich and enhance learning. Practising times tables, spellings and reading on a regular basis, is of course still very important. Please don’t forget Bug Club – if you need your child’s login details again, please pop in and see us.

We will begin writing you child’s report during this term and in week 6(starting Monday 20thMay) the children will sit optional Year 5 SAT’s in reading and maths to help us decide your child’s end of Year 5 National Curriculum Level.

History projects have already begun to arrive; please try to ensure that your child’s family history project is handed in by the end of Term 5; Mr Smith is really looking forward to reading them. Those that have arrived thus far are fantastic!

In Term 6 there are many things to look forward to. Medieval day will be on Friday 5thJuly (please begin to think about a suitable costume- more details to follow early next Term) and a week later on Friday 12thJuly we go to Arethusa Venture Centre for a day of ‘Outdoor & Adventurous’ activities.

As always don’t forget you can see us after school most days except Wednesdays (staff meeting day) but if we are unavailable an appointment can be made.

Regards Mr Smith & Mrs Bown 22.4.13
